Why Hemp?
Hemp, the first and strongest natural fibre to be cultivated,
is considered nature's most valuable, versatile and reusable
resource. Hemp can be grown in almost any conditions without
chemicals and pesticides, and is used in clothing, paper,
food, medicine and cosmetics. It's resistance to mildew
and bacteria, as well as its high protection performance
against UV rays, means that wearing hemp benefits both skin
and health.

Hemp Yoga Pants Size Info
- The drawstring waist tightens to 24" or
61cm and expands to 38" or 97cm.

The Story of the Hemp Shorts
Last summer I received quite a few e-mail from men who wanted shorts for yoga (and especially for hot yoga) out of natural fibres. After giving it a lot of thought, I decided to shelve the idea, because there were some many complications.
People are accustomed to synthetic fabrics for a lot of yoga clothes, and the transition between natural fibres and synthetic especially for something like shorts for hot yoga, I thought would be too big a learning curve.
Then, along came John Flaxman, (pictured above). At the Toronto Yoga Show he asked me why I didn't just make the hemp pants shorter so that he could use them for hot yoga? Well, I said, - there isn't a liner in them - he said that doesn't matter, and after much discussion, we finally decided to try them.
Here is his report: "SUCCESS, I love the shorts, I used them in a hot yoga class. The shorts that I usually use get very wet from sweating and eventually my legs have rivers running down them. Your hemp shorts soaked up the sweat and my legs were not as bad. The draw string worked perfectly. As for seeing my underwear, I asked the instructor if she could see anything when I was doing a headstand and her response was, “only when I walked right up beside you.” Other than that, she could not see anything." "A quick not on the absorption rate, the shorts seemed to absorb more of the sweat then my regular shorts and my regular shorts are made of a nylon/polyester combination. The hot yoga room I was in was at around 115F I believe that that is around 43C."
John sent us some pictures taken while he was on vacation in Florida. There is apparently a crocodile lurking in one of them - but as much as I stare at the pictures, I can't find the the crocodile. If you find it, do send me a line and tell me which photo it's in!!
