Update from Rosie, Dec, 2018. The pictures of the tea-towels on this page do not reflect the new solid colours of linen. Please refer to the swatch picture when making your choice.
The absorbency of this beautiful linen astonished us when we tried it out in our kitchen. It is certainly easy to understand why linen was once a common kitchen textile!
Sadly, linen tea-towels have fallen out of use and are rather hard to come by these days.
Of course, we saved the remnants from cutting the linen pants and skirts from our Summer Limited Linen Editions, and thought how nice it would be to make some tea-towels and handkerchiefs this time of the year, as there are many of you who would love to be able to give them as gifts or have them on hand this holiday season.
These beautiful linen tea-towels could definitely double as placemats - and the handkerchiefs, beautiful linen napkins.
- THE FABRIC and WASHING INSTRUCTIONS 100% Linen. You can wash these however you would like: from just rinsing out at the end of day with a bit of soap, or a heavy-duty machine wash if really soiled. You can even put them in the dryer - but it's much easier (and they become less wrinkled) if you just remove from the wash and let air dry - will be dry before the dryer would even be halfway done. For heavily soiled towels, soak in vinegar for about 5 minutes before washing. Soaking in vinegar also hastens the absorbency. Sometimes it takes a few washes before this linen achieves maximum absorbency.
- HANGING TAB we've added a bit of our Dear Lil' Devas drawstring ribbon to the corner of each to allow for easy hanging to dry.
- THE HIGH-QUALITY CONSTRUCTION Made in a relaxed, benevolent, non-factory environment in Canada by Dear Lil' Devas ~ Yoga Clothing and Accessories Infused with Good Vibes! For the linen tea towels, because we are making them from the remnants of fabric that has already been cut - particular time and concentration is put into preparing the remnant fabric and cutting almost every piece individually. Making these tea-towels is definitely a labour of love for us at DLD.
